Britannia Lanes is a family-owned removals and storage company, with operating depots in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Bristol. We are part of the prestigious group of companies that make up Britannia Movers International and are the sole Britannia member for the Southwest. We are also members of the British Association of Removers (BAR) and the Self Storage Association (SSA). We are accredited by QSS for reaching the European Standard for Removals BSEN 12522 and the European Standard for Storage BSEN 14873.

Local & Long-distance UK Removals

We have over 40 years' experience of local & national removals. From a part load of one box to a full household removal, if the move is just around the corner or from Lands End to John O'Groats, Britannia Lanes have it covered. All four depots in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset & Bristol are run by the second or third generation, making sure that we still offer that family touch.

Survey

Our pre-move surveyor will arrange to visit you at home. He will complete a comprehensive pre-move survey so that we can advise you of the most appropriate personal moving plan for you. Our quotations include our "menu" of removal services that allow you to personalise your move to your needs. We incorporate specialist packing of china and glass, packing of non-fragile effects, packing of antiques, export packing and specialist crating and handling of high value or awkward items.

For any customers looking to move into the southwest we can offer a video survey which is provided through an easy to use app on your smart phone or tablet. Not only will this save you time filling in online forms but enables us to complete an accurate survey, as if we had visited your home.

We use a modern fleet of removal vehicles and are committed to minimising our carbon footprint with the use of Low Emission engines. Our fleet comprises from small panel vans for all of those narrow lanes or small coastal and market towns, which we have, in abundance throughout the Southwest. Medium sized vans are ideal for a local family move or a down-size for retirement. If you are concerned that we won't get all of your effects on, don't worry we have this covered too by using the very large articulated vehicles. When your move is over hundreds of miles we have invested in the latest CT Box road trains. A road train can carry two interchangeable boxes, so when two depots have a move going to the same area they will travel on the one vehicle which reduces the carbon footprint of your move and at the same time it saves you money.

European Removals

We carry out full house moves and part loads to all of Europe. Our destinations include France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Netherlands, Northern and Eastern Europe. If you are not taking everything, our fortnightly trips into Europe mean that you only pay for the space required.

If moving outside of the EEC, our surveyors will assist in advising you of documentation that maybe required.

Moving Overseas

From one box to a full household including your car, we can ship it for you. Our export packers will export wrap and box all of your effects. These will then be packed into 20ft or 40ft shipping containers. For most worldwide destinations we offer groupage consignments. For the more adventurous we can pack your effects into specialist crates which can be shipped to almost anywhere in the world. Our surveyors have extensive knowledge of international moving and can assist you with the documentation and help decide which is the best way to ship your effects. We also offer air freight for when speed is of the essence.

Our main worldwide destinations include Australia, New Zealand, USA, South Africa, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Cyprus, Malta, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey and the Canary Islands. When you need to store your home contents, you need a company with twenty-five years of container storage experience together with some of the most comprehensive storage facilities in the country. Britannia Lanes lead the way in the storage market with three purpose-built container warehouses strategically located throughout the Southwest.

Self Drive Van Hire

Britannia Lanes offer Self Drive Van hire to collect from Truro, Bristol, Exeter and Bridgwater. Choose from one of three, easy to drive, modern vehicles. The smallest van available is a 3.5 ton panel van with a volume of over 10 cubic metres. This size of van is ideal for a few items, when there is difficult vehicle access or when multiple trips are the answer. Our medium size van is a 3.5 ton Luton van with a volume of over 18 cubic metres and comes with a half ton tail lift; ideal for small to medium household moves as lifting large or heavy items up into the van is made easier with the use of a tail lift. This size van is easy to drive, versatile and economic and can be used for a multitude of reasons. Our largest Self Drive van (small lorry) has a GVW of 7.5 tons. It has a 20ft box body with a volume exceeding 28 cubic metres and is fitted with a one ton tuck-away tail lift. The reasons to hire this van are limitless; household moving, large or bulky items, palletised items. The list is truly endless.
